Toralf Hildebrandt - Choir Director

Toralf Hildebrandt was born in Berlin and was a choir boy in a Berlin boys’ choir. From 1982 to 1987, he studied church music, majoring in choir direction at the School for Church Music in Greifswald. Studies in his major took him to Leipzig where he received intensive training in choir conducting under the Thomaskantor Prof. Georg Christoph Biller.

Since 1989, Toralf Hildebrandt has directed the Knabenchor Hösel as its cantor.

As choral conductor, he has won both national and international prizes and awards, and is considered a specialist in the field of boys’ choir conducting. Moreover, he is a sought-after choir pedagogue and jury member at international choral festivals and competitions.

The Westdeutsche Rundfunk (WDR) will accompany the Knabenchor Hösel in 2009. Sabine Wagner and her team will attend concerts, rehearsals and concert tours, and will document the activities of the boys’ choir. In December 2009, the film will be shown on WDR.
